US Secretary of State discusses Gaza, Lebanon, Sudan with Saudi, UAE foreign ministers
Washington, DC, US (PANA) - US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has spoken to the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the crises in the Gaza, Lebanon and Sudan, as he seeks humanitarian assistance and diplomatic resolutions.
A press release issued by the Office of the Spokesperson for the US Department of State said Mr. Blinken spoke separately on Friday with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and UNE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the crisis and shared concerns about regional stability and security.
In his discussions with Saudi Foreign Minister, Mr. Blinken affirmed the United States’ continued commitment to bring the conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon to an end.
He discussed with Saudi Prince bin Farhan Al Saud efforts to secure the release of hostages and establish a path forward that allows Palestinians in Gaza to “rebuild their lives and advance governance, security and reconstruction”.
The press release said Mr. Blinken emphasised the need to increase the delivery of humanitarian assistance throughout Gaza and expressed appreciation to the Foreign Minister for Saudi Arabia’s efforts to provide aid to Palestinians.
On Sudan, the Secretary thanked the Minister for Saudi Arabia’s continued leadership on regional efforts to get a ceasefire and stressed the importance of expanding humanitarian access, stopping the fighting, and supporting a political process to form a civilian government.
Mr. Blinken, in his phone call with UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh bin Zayed Al Nahyan, reaffirmed the United States’ continued commitment to bring the war in Gaza to an end as quickly as possible.
He discussed with the Foreign Minister efforts to secure the release of hostages and increase sustainable assistance.
“They also discussed efforts to achieve a diplomatic resolution in Lebanon that allows civilians on both sides of the Blue Line to return to their homes,” the press release said.
On Sudan, the Secretary again stressed the importance of expanding humanitarian access, stopping the fighting, and supporting a political process to form a civilian government.
The Secretary thanked the Foreign Minister for the UAE’s provision of humanitarian aid for both Gaza and Lebanon and its continued role advancing peace and stability in the region.
