UN chief condemns attack on Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport

New York, US (PANA) - UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has strongly condemns the attack on Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport area on Thursday, which resulted in the death of a member of the Ugandan United Nations Guard Unit at the United Nations Compound. 

A statement by M. Stéphane Dujarric, Spokesman for the Secretary-General, said he expressed his deep condolences to the family and colleagues of the victim and to the Government and people of Uganda. 

"The Secretary-General recalls that attacks against UN personnel and premises are prohibited under international law," the statement said.  

The Secretary-General expressed the full solidarity and support of the United Nations to the Government and people of Somalia in their fight against terrorism and reaffirmed the Organisation’s commitment to supporting them on their journey towards a stable, secure and prosperous country.
