Tunis, Tunisia (PANA) - Tunisia will host a two-day conference of the International Association of French-speaking Mayors staring Wednesday, Tunis City Hall announced on Tuesday.
The programme provides for a conference on "the city and the digital" and a plenary session of the Association's general assembly, according to the City Hall statement.
It added that 130 mayors and international partners from 35 countries in Africa, America, Asia and Europe are expected to take part in the meeting directly or virtually.
The conference reflects the desire of French-speaking mayors to support solidarity between cities and dialogue between cultures, after a difficult year marked by the coronavirus crisis, the press release said.
It indicated that the conference would also reflect the strength gained by the network of French-speaking mayors of Africa in the field of management of partnership relations and the unification of their positions.
The conference will be enhanced by the presence of the Tunisian government authorities, the mayors of Tunis and Paris as well as the French Secretary of State in charge of the Francophonie, the Secretary General of the Arab Maghreb Union and the Secretary General of the Francophonie.
