The President of the Libyan Council calls for mobilization to transform climate challenges into opportunities for the world
Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The president of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Manfi, has stressed the importance of mobilizing efforts to tackle climate risks and transform the challenges facing the world into opportunities that transcend the dividing lines between Africa and the major industrialized countries to chart a new phase based on the principle of partnership.
In a speech he gave on Tuesday to the first African Climate Summit in Nairobi, Kenya, under the title "Towards Green Growth and Climate Solutions for Africa and the Wworld", Mr. Al-Manfi called for urgent measures to reduce climate damage and adopt solutions for the transition.
He stressed that the African continent can provide sustainable and real solutions to climate risks, starting with the fight against carbon emissions and moving on to green growth, then achieving transformation and sustainability on the path to clean energy if the financial and technical deficits from which the continent suffers are overcome.
The Libyan leader urged the adoption of consensual climate initiatives that go beyond the individual interests of the major industrialized countries.

The president of the Presidential Council, Al-Manfi, left the capital, Nairobi, on Tuesday evening, bound for Tripoli, after taking part in the work of the African Summit, which was attended by a number of country leaders, heads of state, heads of government and international organizations.
Mr Al-Manfi took part this morning in the work of the African Climate Summit, attended by the President of the Federal Republic of the Comoros and current Chairman of the African Union (AU), Ousmane Ghazali, the Chairman of the Commission of the African Union, Moussa Faki, and the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, as well as a number of country leaders, heads of government and international organizations.
