Sudanese-Somali Investment and Trade Forum to be held in Mogadishu

Khartoum, Sudan (PANA) - In a rare event of its type, Sudan and Somalia are working to cooperate in the field of investment, to be spearheaded by an investment forum to be held in Mogadishu in two weeks’ time.

Sudan’s Minister of Investment and International Cooperation, Ms. Ahlam Madani Mahdi, said following a preparatory meeting that the Sudanese-Somali Investment and Trade Forum will be held in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, from 18-19 March, under the organisation of the Sudan embassy in Mogadishu under the theme "Brotherhood and Partnership."

The preparatory meeting was attended by representatives of  the technical and economic departments in Sudan, the Capital Markets Authority, the Khartoum Stock Exchange, the Sudanese Businessmen Union, and the Ministries of Industry, Trade and Foreign Affairs.

She said the main objective for holding the forum is to try to strengthen Sudanese-Somali relations and to hold investment and economic partnerships between the two countries in a number of fields. She said Somali investors have expressed the desire to “be present and invest in Sudan”.

The Sudanese official said a memorandum for twin-ship between the two capitals -- Khartoum and Mogadishu -- will be prepared for endorsement on the sideline of the event in Mogadishu.
