South African President Ramaphosa salutes Trump after election victory

Cape Town, South Africa (PANA) –  South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on Thursday congratulated Donald Trump on his victory in the US elections.

“I look forward to continuing the close and mutually beneficial partnership between our two nations across all domains of our cooperation,” Ramaphosa said after Trump defeated democrat candidate Kamala Harris.

He said South Africa will “work closely with the US” during its G20 presidency next year.

Nomvula Mokonyane, deputy secretary-general of the governing African National Congress said: “We will continue to engage with whoever wins because we have an interest in ensuring that we foster relations that are good for our national interests and that are going to contribute towards inclusive growth, fighting poverty in our country, and creating better economic opportunities for those who are disenfranchised.”
