Senegal: Hundreds demonstrate against "Charlie Hebdo" cartoon

Dakar, Senegal (PANA) – Hundreds of people on Friday afternoon gathered at the Big Mosque of Dakar to denounce the French satirical Magazine, Charlie Hebdo, for publishing another cartoon of Prophet Mohammad.

The demonstration was jointly organized by the Associations of Senegalese Imams and Islamic organizations including NGO Jamra.

Two gunmen burst into the Charlie Hebdo office in Paris a few weeks ago killing 12 people.

In their speeches, the organizers lashed out against president François Hollande and the French government who they accused of financing the "enemies" of Islam and its Prophet.

Demonstrators last Friday burned the French flag in Dakar in an anti-Charlie Hebdo demonstration.

The French embassy in Dakar has, meanwhile, urged French nationals to be careful about movements in the city.
