Sao Tomé, Sao Tome and Principe (PANA) – The former president of Sao Tome and Principe, Fradique de Menezes, who is the leader of the Democratic Movement/Force for Change – Liberal Party (MDFM-PL), has begun the reorganization of his party for the next parliamentary, local and regional elections to be held in October.
Mr de Menezes, who was president for two terms from 2001-2011, is returning to political life.
In Vila de Santana District de Canta-Galo, located in the southern region of Sao Tome, he has presided over a meeting of his party that brought together over 100 cadres and supporters to look at the reorganization of the party’s bodies and the strategy for the next elections.
"As we are preparing for the October elections, it is essential to unite the party and reorganize it through the regions," said the former Sao Tome and Principe president.
MDFM-PL backs the 15th constitutional government led by Prime minister Gabriel Costa through the coalition that brings together the Movement for Sao Tome and Principe liberation – Social Democratic Party (MLSTP-PSD) and the Party for Democratic Convergence (PCD). It obtained only one seat at Parliament in the 2010 parliamentary elections.
