Banjul, The Gambia (PANA) - The National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) in a situational report for the 2021 year has revealed that 18 people died and 39,844 others were internally displaced by windstorm and flood in The Gambia.
The report made available to PANA here Friday also revealed that 177,845 people were affected by the windstorm and flood nationwide.
The NDMA, which is responsible for the coordination and management of all forms of disasters in the country, in its report added that out of the 177,845 disaster victims in the country, 135,639 were affected by the windstorm while 42,206 people were affected by flood during the rainy season.
It stated further that 10,868 households, including 14,771 pregnant and lactating mothers were also affected, while 1,900 people suffered from problems related to water, sanitation and hygiene.
