Nigeria: 'World Economic Forum Africa meeting will still hold in Abuja despite insecurity'

Abuja, Nigeria (PANA) – The 24th World Economic Forum on Africa, slated for Nigeria next week, will still go on despite security fears over Thursday night bomb blast at Nyanya, in the outskirts of Abuja, Associate Director in charge of Media Relations at the World Economic Forum, Mr. Oliver Cann, said in a statement in Abuja.

The event, scheduled for 7-9 May, 2014, is expected to bring together over 1,000 political, business and civil society leaders, including Premier Li Keqiang of China and 11 African heads of state and government.

Mr. Cann said the event will run as scheduled following assurances from Nigeria’s President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, of the safety of participants.

He said the World Economic Forum on Africa 2014 would still go ahead amidst tightened security.
