New South African opposition party vows to reshape political landscape
Cape Town, South Africa (PANA) – A new political party, Capitalist Party of South Africa, has pledged to tackle “the tyranny of incompetence” in government.
PANA reports there are deep divisions in many of South Africa’s leading political parties, including the ruling African National Congress which is wracked by in-fighting.
The Capitalist Party has been launched by 10 “non-politicians” who believe their innovative thinking could find solutions to many of South Africa's deep-rooted problems.
What makes the party unusual is that it doesn’t have a leader. Its 10 founders (Kanthan Pillay, Roman Cabanac, Neo Kuaho, Gideon Joubert, Unathi Kwaza, Duncan McLeod, Sindile Vabaza, Louis Nel, Katlego Mabusela and Dumo Denga) have pledged to talk directly to the South Africa voters.
Pillay argues that "capitalism has unleashed the biggest wave of prosperity in the history of the human race".
“Case-in-point: South Koreans are 17 times wealthier than North Korean nationals. By unleashing capitalism on its economy, China is every single month pulling one million people out of poverty. But here, in our beautiful South Africa, politicians have turned capitalism into a swear word. They make us feel guilty for working hard to improve our lives. And this guilt allows us to let them steal money from hardworking families and use the money for corruption,” he said.
The party which will be on the ballot for the 8 May national election uses a purple cow as its symbol “because cattle are the most visible symbol of wealth for all of sub-Saharan Africa and purple is the colour of prosperity”.
