Mauritania: President lays foundation stone for fishing port

Nouakchott, Mauritania (PANA) - Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz Wednesday carried out the ground-breaking ceremony for an artisanal fishing port in Tanit, located 60km to the North of the capital, Nouakchott, PANA reported.

The construction of the fishing port, which will cost about US$51 million, is being entirely funded by the government.

The new port will accommodate 300 artisanal fishing boats and will be the second biggest after that of Nouadhibou in the North-west of the country.

Mauritania's coasts, one of the world's richest in fish resources, is about 700km long.
