Mali: Malian U-18 team set for Afrobasket women championship in Egypt

Bamako, Mali (PANA) – Mali's U-18 women basketball team and eleven other national selections will from 19-28 September take part in the 13th edition of the U-18 women Afrobasket championship, the Malian Basketball Federation (FMBB) told PANA Wednesday.

Twelve national basketball teams are expected to take part in the competition for the continental crown. Countries that automatically qualify are host nation Egypt, Senegal as current titleholder plus Mali, Tunisia and Angola who ranked second to fourth respectively at the last championship in 2012.

According to the Supreme Council for Sports in Africa (SCSA), other qualified countries for the contest are Algeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Gabon, Uganda, Mozambique and Botswana.
