Kinshasa, DR Congo (PANA) – The city of Lubumbashi, administrative district of the province of Katanga in the south-east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), will from Wednesday host the 3rd edition of the International Trade Initiative (ITI).
This was contained in a statement issued by the consul-general of the Republic of South Africa (RSA) to Katanga, Victor Mditswa.
Mr Mditswa said the government of South Africa had chosen DRC as a strategic partner for Africa’s development programme, in its effort to improve the economic cooperation and promote regional trade.
The three-day fair, initiated by RSA, will be attended by 25 South African companies led by Mrs Elisabeth Thabethe, South Africa’s deputy minister of Trade and Industry.
It companies consist of those operating in civil engineering, agricultural development, energy, building, mines, information technology and pharmaceutical industry.
The South African delegation will also include nine potential investors who will visit Lubumbashi in search for new business opportunities in Katanga.
Within the framework of the women’s month, the exhibition will be marked by two diners offered to 200 businesswomen by the South African minister of Trade and Industry to facilitate contacts with their South African colleagues.
The exhibition will lead to a visit of several Katanga companies by the South African delegation.
