'Libyan NTC to operate from Tripoli next week'

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) – The Libyan National Transitional Council (NTC) will operate the capital, Tripoli, from next week, NTC chairman Mustapha Abdeljelil said on Friday in Benghazi, the city which served as launch pad for the rebellion against Mouammar Kadhafi on 17 February.

The executive board of NTC government has progressively trnsferred activities to Tripoli following the capture of the residential complex and headquarters of Kadhafi in Bab Al-Aziziya.

The transfer of the NTC chief and other members of the political organ of the Libyan rebellion to Tripoli shows the stability that prevails in the capital.

Mustapha Abdeljelil also announced that 62 countries, which took part in the international conference on Libya in Paris, decided that operations of NATO should continue to protect civilians.

The decision is motivated by the fact that regions such as Fezzan (south), the city of Beni Walid (western Tripoli) and Sirte (east) are still in the hands of soldiers loyal to Kadhafi, who himself is nowhere to be found.

Meanwhile, the chief of the military council of Tripoli, Abdelhakim Belhadj, has reiterated the appeal to rebel combatants present in Tripoli to return to their regions or cities of origin.
