Libyan Media Forum closes with prize-giving ceremony
Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The Libyan Media Forum, which was held as part of the second edition of the "Tripoli Media Days", closed Thursday with an awards ceremony.
It was attended by the Libyan Ministers of Youth, Fathallah al-Zani, and State for Communication and Political Affairs, Walid Ellafi, ministers and representatives from several Arab countries, as well as a number of leading local and international media and cultural personalities.
At the end of the celebrations, the Libyan Media Forum prizes were distributed to a number of media personalities and journalists, including the prize for the best meaningful content, which was awarded to content creator Taha al-Jawachi, in recognition of their efforts and to encourage their continued provision of meaningful and professional content.
The forum was attended by local, Arab and international media personalities, journalists, channels and media institutions in the field of written, audiovisual and visual journalism, over two consecutive days.
Earlier on Thursday morning, the Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs, Walid Ellafi, said in a speech at the opening of the 100th ordinary session of the Standing Committee of Arab Media that Libya's position was firm in the face of Israel's flagrant aggression against the Gaza Strip, which is supported by an official and unofficial media machine.
He called for the activation of the media action plan to support the Palestinian cause, and for the role of government communication to be activated in rejecting terrorism and hate speech.
The Libyan official explained that the 100th meeting of the Standing Committee for the Arab Media was of great symbolic importance for Libya, stressing Tripoli's willingness to host the Arab Institute for Peace Journalism on its soil, indicating that the procedures for hosting the institute would soon be finalized.
The Under-Secretary General - Head of the Media and Communication Sector of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Rached al-Khattabi, expressed in his speech the League's aspiration for this session held in Libya to be a springboard for further progress and tangible contributions to this Arab mechanism.
He stressed that the committee meeting would focus on the media action plan, with the Palestinian question at its heart, in particular the launch of the observatory, the integrated platform in the Kingdom of Morocco and the media map for sustainable development 2030.
The activities of the Tripoli Media Days included the Libyan Media Forum, Media Exhibition, holding of the 100th Ordinary Session of the Standing Committee for the Arab Media, and the organization of the twelfth National Festival of Performing Arts.
It also covered the Tripoli Forum for Government Communication and the holding of the 18th Session of the Executive Bureau of the Council of Arab Ministers of Information, culminating in a commemorative celebration of the 72nd anniversary of independence on 24 December.
