Libya: Trial of pro-Kaddafi officials adjourned to 28 December

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) – The Tripoli court on Sunday adjourned, till 28 December, the trial of pro-Kaddafi officials at the request of the defence lawyers,

Sunday's hearing in the case was held, for the fifth time, on the absence of Seif al-Islam Kaddafi, son of Mouammar Kaddafi, via a videoconference from the south western city of Zenten (180 km from Tripoli).

Judicial sources said Seif al-Islam's absence was caused by "technical reasons".

The International Criminal Court (ICC) had on Wednesday decided to refer the case to the UN Security Council, after the Libyan government failed to grant ICC request for cooperation.

The pro-Kaddafi officials also included a former Prime minister, Baghdadi Mahmoudi, his former intelligent service chief, Abdallah al-Senoussi, and the last minister of foreign affairs under Kaddafi, Abdelati Labidi.

An international arrest warrant have been issued against Seif al-Islam and al-Senoussi, who were indicted on 24 October, 2013, for crimes and suppression of the 2011 revolution.

ICC, which still insists on trying Seif al-Islam, had decided on 11 October, 2013, to authorize Libya to try al-Senoussi.
