Athens, Greece (PANA) - Marshal Khalifa Haftar, commander of eastern Libyan forces, arrived on Thursday evening in Athens, Greece, PANA learnt from diplomatic sources.
He is expected to hold talks on Friday with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and meet with Greek Foreign Minister, Nikos Dendias.
Haftar had expressed his discontent over Germany’s decision not to invite Greece to the Berlin conference on the Libyan crisis on Sunday.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Thursday criticized organizers of the Berlin conference for not inviting Greece.
He also warned in an interview on Greek Alpha TV that if the Turkey-Libya memorandums of understanding were not revoked, Greece would reject a political solution for the Arab country.
Greece will invoke its veto power at the EU's Council of Foreign Ministers and the Summit.
Mitsotakis said he had sent letters to the EU and spoken in person about the issue to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, with whom he would speak again on Friday as well.
