Libya: Libyan Air Force intensifies strikes against Fajr Libya

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) – The Libyan Air Force on Saturday intensified its strikes on the Fajr Libya militias near Tripoli international airport and in several camps around Maitigua air base, according to military sources.

While fighter planes bombarded positions of the militias in Zaavrana zone south of al-Ajeilat city, the air raids caused panic within the Fajr Libya militias, and army troops pushed forward to the southwest direction of the city, said the same sources.

In another development, elements of armed groups backing the Libyan army carried out special operations on Saturday targeting gatherings of Fajr Libya at the check-points in the localities of Msallata and al-Nakaza. Two elements among the militias were killed in the vicinity of Misrata city.

Meanwhile, the Libyan Army announced Friday that it had retaken control of Ouerchefana and al-Azizia areas around Tripoli international airport as other contingents of the army advanced towards the centre of the capital.

On the other hand, reports said that the Fajr Libya forces have withdrawn from Sirte to Misrata after fierce fighting with the Islamic State organization (Daech).
