Libya: Fresh fighting breaks out Monday in Tripoli

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) – Fierce fighting broke out early on Monday in the district of Ghout al-Chaal of the Libyan capital, Tripoli, showing an escalation of the violence that has plagued Libya over time as the army launched an offensive to retake control of the city from the Fajr Libya militias.

Military sources said huge sporadic explosions could be heard all over the area, adding that gunmen blocked the main road linking the zones of al-Saraj and Ghout al-Chaal (South-West).

The sources did not give further details, including the injured or deaths.

They merely said that dozens of families in the region of Tripoli have been displaced.

PANA reports that the national army and forces loyal to it in the western region of the country have recently launched an offensive to retake control of the capital seized by Fajr Libya.
