Libya: FM welcomes Arab force against terrorism in Libya

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) – Welcoming the arrangement to establish a common Arab force in the fight against terrorism in Libya, the country's foreign affairs minister, Mohamed al-Dairi, has said: "The Arab train is now on the move."

Speaking Friday a televised interview, al-Dairi alluded to countries still dragging their feet on that initiative.

He particularly accused Qatar of blocking the arrangement.

Mr al-Dairi said that the US had refused the option of arming the Libyan army while the European countries are to assist Libya strongly deal with insurgencies from the Islamic State (Daech).

Al-Dairi announced a Libyan-Egyptian-Arab plan to counter the expansion of terrorism in Libya, saying that the meetings held by Prime Minister Abdallah al-Theni on Thursday in Cairo were all devoted to helping Libya get out of the crisis hitting it.

The Libyan minister, who this week visited France and Great Britain soliciting for arms for the Libyan army, said that there was Russian-European consensus on the formation of a national unity government in Libya. He said, however, that this was not easy for the time being.
