Libya: 4 killed, 13 injured in Ouerchefana zone of western Tripoli

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) – At least four people have been killed and 13 others injured in violent clashes in Ouerchefana sector of western Tripoli, which local authorities and human rights organisations have declared a disaster zone because of the dramatic situation there.

Al-Zahra hospital of Ouerchefana received three dead bodies and nine wounded persons, most of them civilians, following armed clashes in which rockets targeted that area.

In Zaouia (50 km west of Tripoli), the university hospital received one dead and four injured persons among fighters from "Libya’s shield" and the chamber of Libya’s revolutionaries of the armed militias under the command of 'Fajr Libya', a coalition of armed groups from Misrata particularly.

The hospital also reported the death of a leader of 'Libya’s shield', Mohamed Al-Kilani, who was a member of the National General Congress (NGC).

The Libyan national human rights committee has expressed grave concern about human rights abuses against civilians in the zone of Ouerchefana.

Continuous bombings by armed groups have caused widespread destruction of properties besides the loss of lives among civilians.
