Kenya: Kenya scale up preparation for Sierra Leone AFCON match

Nairobi, Kenya (PANA) - China-based striker Micheal Olunga is among the foreign-based players called up to the Kenya national football team, Harambee Stars, for the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Sierra Leone on 11 June.

The lanky striker, also the 2016 Kenyan Premier League Player of the Year, plays for Guizhou Zhicheng.

Zambia-based attacker Mark Makwatta is a notable absentee from the squad, named by coach Stanley Okumbi on Wednesday.

An interesting inclusion in the team is Johanna Omollo who turns out for Belgian side, Royal Antwerp. Though nursing an injury, the attacking midfielder made the squad that faces Sierra Leone in the Group F match.

Winger Ayub Masika, who played for Chinese side, Time Beijing Renhe, is back in the squad after having missed two recent national team assignments.

The above-mentioned are among the 12 foreign players named by coach Okumbi, and set to link up up with their home-based players in preparation for the away first leg match.
