Italian airline makes inaugural flight to Angola

Luanda, Angola (PANA) - The Italian airline company, CargoItalia, has commenced operations to Angola, making its inaugural flight Monday to the African country's capital city, Luanda, by transporting 70 tonnes of goods from the Malpensa International Airport in Milan.

A press release from the Angolan Airline Company (TAAG) said the flights would be operated by a Boeing plane every 15 days, from the Italian airports of Malpensa and Ostende.

The inaugural ceremony was chaired by the commercial representatives of Angola in Italy, Maria Celestina, who also stood in for Ambassador Manuel Pedro Pacavira and TAAG's Regional Director for the European Region, João Serra.

TAAG has signed a deal with the Italian company to guarantee regular cargo flights between Malpensa and Luanda, to support firms from both countries that operate in the European market.

Established in 2003, CargoItalia already has operations in India, various US cities, Egypt, Nigeria, Senegal and Saudi Arabia.
