Heat waves drive Libyans to beaches

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - Tripoli, the Libyan capital, was Tuesday hit by a devastating heat waves with the result that Libyans, unable to bear the heat, are heading for the Mediterranean beach to cool off.

The heat wave signalled the beginning of the season of extreme heat in the country, according to Libyan forecasters.

Temperature along the beach is between 37 and 40 degrees celsius but it is hotter inside the country, ranging from 41 to 44 degrees celsius.

PANA reports that the beaches have been invaded by Tripoli residents despite the NATO bombings.
