Head of the UN bureau for central Africa visits Cameroon

Yaoundé, Cameroun (PANA) – The special representative of the UN secretary-general and head of the UN regional bureau for central Africa (UNOCA), Abou Moussa, has begun a five-day official visit to Cameroon.

The visit is to enable him to contact the authorities of the Economic Community of Central African States (CEAC), as well as the sub-regional actors and partners involved in the search for peace and security.

He will meet the country’s authorities, officials of UN diplomatic missions and heads of agencies.

Abou Moussa, a Chadian, was until his appointment last March the deputy special representative of the UN secretary-general for Côte d’Ivoire.

ONUCA was inaugurated on 2 March this year in Libreville, Gabon, with the mission to support countries on the sub-region and prevent conflicts, as well as peacekeeping.

It covers 10 member states - Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and Sao Tome and Principe.
