Guinea: British govt. to host investors' forum for Guinea

Conakry, Guinea (PANA) – The British government will host an investors' forum for Guinea in September in London, with a view to consolidating trade and business relations between the two countries, diplomatic sources said here on Monday.

The sources said that the forum is aimed at informing the British investors about the investment opportunities in Guinea, particularly in the sectors of mines, agriculture and energy, among others.

Experts from the two countries are working hard to set the basis for the forum.

The UK, which established an embassy here for about a decade, has always participated in several activities and development projects in Guinea, including positive contributions to the elections held in Guinea.

In another development, the former British prime minister, Tony Blair, who chairs the Non-Governmental Organization, African Governance Initiative, has since 2011 been visiting Guinea where he held talks with Guinean president, Alpha Condé, on several development issues.

In 2013, Blair had said that “successful parliamentary elections would enable Guinea to restore relations with investors."

He had already introduced to president Condé several British experts in the energy domain.
