Fire destroys more than 160 hectares of crops in Morocco

Rabat, Morocco (PANA) – More than 160 hectares of argan treee and thuja were destroyed by a forest fire on Tuesday in the district of Amskroud, southern Morocco.

Security sources said land and air operations to contain the fire were continuing on Thursday.

The workers of civil protection groups, royal gendarmerie and forces have been deployed to put off the flames.

Their mission has been made difficult by the nature of the relief and the vegetal cover of that mountainous region.

The precise causes of the fire still remain to be determined.
