Ethiopia to host high-level forum on security, organized crime

Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire (PANA) – A high-level forum on "security and organized crime" will be held 20-21 April in Bahir, Ethiopia, on the initiative of the peace and security study institute (IPSS) of the University of Addis Ababa, according to a statement from the institution which was made available to PANA on Saturday.

The forum, in its second edition, will bring together heads of State and government, distinguished personalities from Africa and the world, civil society organizations and think tank groups.

They will look into and discuss the problems of peace and security facing Africa.

During the forum, tributes will be paid to the forum’s fierce defender and former Ethiopian Prime minister, Meles Zenawi, who died in August last year.

Sources say that the forum was initiated to contribute to the establishment of the Tripoli declaration of August 2009, which advocates the search for African solutions to the problems facing the continent.

The forum’s first edition, held last year, focused on the theme "managing the States’ diversity and fragility".
