Ethiopia 'foils' attempted Al Shabaab attack at Somalia border

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (PANA) - The Ethiopian National Defence Forces (ENDF) say they "successfully foiled" an attempted attack by the Al Shabaab terrorist group at the Ethiopia-Somalia border town of Dollo.

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs quoted by the state-owned Ethiopian News Agency, said the ENDF "stopped the attackers in their tracks before they could wreak havoc".

"The ENDF neutralised suicide bombers and destroyed weapons to be used by the terrorist group," the statement said on Thursday without giving any further details.

Last week, Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni said some 54 Ugandan peacekeepers died when the Al Shabaab terrorists attacked an African Union base in Somalia on 26 May.
