Egypt: Togolese president pledges support to Egypt in war against terrorism

Cairo, Egypt (PANA) – The Togolese President, Faure Gnassingbé, has pledged his country's support to Egypt in the war against terrorism.

Gnassingbé was speaking in Cairo Wednesday during an audience he had with the Egyptian Prime, Minister Ibrahim Mahlab.

Gnassingbe is in Cairo to witness the inauguration, on Thursday, of the new Suez Canal.

The Togolese praised Egypt for the multi-million dollar project, saying that Egypt was noted for gigantic projects like the popular pyramids dotting Egypt.

According to the official spokesperson for the Council of Egyptian ministers, Hossam al-Qaouich, the Egyptian Prime Minister reaffirmed Egypt’s will to strengthen cooperation with Togo in all sectors, including training in the domains of health and rescue services.

He said that Egypt was ready to send an emergency medical caravan to Togo and added that Egyptian companies are willing to participate in all development projects being implemented in the West African country.

The Egyptian Prime Minister said that the Egyptian ministry of Civil Aviation will begin to examine Togolese request for air link between the Togolese capital, Lome, by the Egyptian airline, Egyptair.
