Egypt: 2 Africans nominated for best men's player, best women's coach awards

Cairo, Egypt (PANA) - Two Africans are among the nominees for FIFA's best men's player and best women's coach awards, announced by the World's Football Governing Body on Thursday.

The two Africans are Gabonese Pierre Aubameyang (who plays for Borussia Dortmund in Germany) - for the best men's player award - and Florence Omagbemi of Nigeria, the coach of the Nigerian national female team) - for the best women's coach.

The winners of the awards will be be celebrated in London on 23 October.

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane heads the list of 12 nominees for the FIFA Men's Coach of the Year award. Other candidates include Antonio Conte, who led Chelsea to the English title, Manchester United's Europa League-winning manager Jose Mourinho and Massimiliano Allegri of Juventus.

Zidane has enjoyed a glorious year in charge of Madrid as they successfully defended the European Cup, becoming the first team to do so in the UEFA Champions League era.
