Cotonou, Benin (PANA) - The Economic Commission for West African States (ECOWAS) has released 392.357 million CFA francs to help Benin's 2022 flood victims, the Beninese Ministry of the Interior and Public Security announced on Wednesday.
This assistance, which will cover victims in 48 of Benin's 77 Communes, is in support of the government's efforts.
The government on its part has released CFAF 290 million under the National Disaster Response Fund for the purchase of food and non-food items for flood victims.
A partnership agreement has been signed between Benin, ECOWAS and the Benin Red Cross, which is responsible for the practical implementation of this assistance.
The funds will be used to provide humanitarian assistance to 2,500 flood-affected households, refugees and displaced persons, as well as to build the resilience of communities and strengthen the capacity of administrative structures.
