Côte d’Ivoire: Media highlight president Hollande’s visit

Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire (PANA) - Ivorian newspapers this week highlighted the visit of French President Francois Hollande to the West African nation.

Le "Nouveau Réveil", with a picture of President Hollande and host President Alassane Ouattara hand in hand, writes: “President Holland: guarantee for Ouattara”.

The newspaper said the French President's comments showed his satisfaction with President Ouattara's achievements in the areas of security, economic revival, national reconciliation, rebuilding of infrastructure and justice, among others.

The tabloid justifies its position by the statement credited to President Hollande, who said to Ouattara: ''You have changed Ivory Coast in three years.''

For its part, the "Nouveau Réveil" played up President Hollande's criticism of Laurent Gbagbo’s Ivorian Popular Front (FPI).

''Le Patriote'' chose to highlight the sentence attributed to President Hollande, “FPI has to take part in the elections if it wants to survive'', in the headlines.

“Fraternité Matin'' agrees by also highlighting the same statement: ''FPI, be there, if not… .''

And “Soir info'' reported President Hollande as saying to FPI: “Take part in the elections…”.

Meanwhile, ''Fraternité Matin'' also highlighted the six bilateral agreements signed between Côte d’Ivoire and France during the French President's visit.
