Congolese Foreign Minister urges Libyans to take 'decisive action' to resolve crisis

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The head of the African Union (AU) delegation, Congolese Foreign Minister Jean-Claude Gakosso, has stressed that Libya is a very important African country, and that it is time for it to take decisive steps to resolve its crisis.

Additionally, Gakosso said it was "inevitable that the African Union raises its voice against any foreign interference in the country".

Gakosso said this in a statement to the press after meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives (Parliament), Councillor Aguila Saleh, on Thursday in the eastern city of Al-Koubba.

Present was the accompanying African Union delegation and the Deputy Prime Minister of the parliamentary-appointed government, Ali Al-Gatrani.

The Congolese foreign minister said they listened to a lot of valuable ideas and advice during the meeting.

He added that Saleh's support for national reconciliation and the African Union's path in it was of paramount importance, the same source said.

An African Union delegation, led by Congolese Foreign Minister Gakosso, representing the chairperson of the African Union High Level Committee on Libya, arrived in Benghazi (East) on Thursday to hold a series of meetings.

The African Union is providing technical support for the achievement of national reconciliation in Libya, which the Libyan Presidential Council is overseeing through the establishment of a strategic vision.

The Presidential Council has organized a series of workshops on this reconciliation strategy in the different regions in Libya to achieve ownership of the project by Libyans.
