Chairman of Libyan Presidential Council invites Denis Sassou Nguesso to visit Libya

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Manfi, has extended an invitation to the president of the Republic of Congo-Brazzaville, Denis Sassou Nguesso, and the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki, to visit Libya.

The invitation is intended to support the efforts of the Presidential Council towards the national reconciliation project to achieve stability and peace.

This occurred during a meeting on Monday in Tripoli by Mr. Al-Manfi with the Congolese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Claude Gakosso, special envoy of the Congolese President, who is also the chairman of the High Committee of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU) on Libya, said a statement from the Presidential Council.

The meeting focused on regional and international efforts to reach a political solution to the Libyan crisis, the same source said.

Al-Manfi reiterated the Council's position calling for the acceleration of a peaceful solution to the current crisis, with the participation of Libyans themselves.

The African Union is planning a national reconciliation conference in Libya through the High Level Committee on Libya in collaboration with the Presidential Council, which has launched a broad national consultation on the strategic vision for appropriation by Libyans as a prelude to its presentation.
