Cameroon: Dutchman Kos wins first stage of Tour of Cameroon

Yaoundé, Cameroon (PANA) – Dutchman Patrik Kos has won the first stage of the cycling Tour of Cameroon on Sunday over a distance of 150 km from Ebolowa in the south to the capital, Yaounde.

He covered the distance in 3 hours 49 minutes 47 seconds.

Another Dutchman Roele de Vries came second, Frenchman Jeremy Letue was third while Cameroonian Yves Ngué came fourth.

The second leg of the tour will be run Monday between Pouma and Kribi in the south over about 150 km. The tour will end on 18 March.

The International Cycling Union (ICU) cancelled the stages of the race scheduled to be run in the regions of Adamaoua, in the extreme-north and north of the country, because of the presence of members of the Nigerian Islamist terror group Boko Haram.

The present tour will therefore cover 1,073.5 km in five of the 10 regions of the country.
