CPJ compiles report on journalists in prison

Banjul, Gambia (PANA) – The US-based Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has compiled a report on the number of imprisoned journalists across the globe, PANA reported Saturday, quoting sources close to the press freedom watchdog.

According to those sources, the report, based on CPJ's annual census of journalists imprisoned worldwide, will be made public on 13 December, 2017.

The CPJ census lists journalists imprisoned as of midnight 1 December, 2017, and indicates the country where they are held, charged and the medium of work for each imprisoned journalist.

However, it does not include the many journalists imprisoned during the year but released prior to 1 December.
