Burkina Faso: Gunman attacks Customs office in northern Burkina Faso

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA) – A lone gunman on Monday attacked the customs post of Deou, in northern Burkina Faso, the general management of the country’s customs services said on Wednesday.

It said an individual armed with kalachnikov around midnight burst into the customs offices of Deou, opened fire on the security guard and damaged the water tank and a vehicle before fleeing as security guards returned fire.

Witnesses say that the attack did not leave any victim and nothing was taken away.

An investigation has been opened to arrest the assailant and find the reasons behind his act, according to the management, which added that a Romanian in charge of security in a factory unit had been abducted.

In mid-April, the Minister of Defence and Security, Denise Auguste Barry, had declared war against criminality, promising to pay between 150,000 CFAF and 250,000 CFAF for any information leading to the the arrest of the abductors.
