Belgium: Spouses of African diplomats in Brussels raise funds for Ebola-hit countries

Brussels, Belgium (PANA) – Wives of African ambassadors accredited to Belgium are organizing a gala party on 12 December in Brussels to raise funds for countries hit by the deadly Ebola disease, said a statement issued Friday to PANA by the diplomatic wives association known by its acronym as AEAAB.

Chaired by Mrs Perseveranda Mangue de Nvono Nca, spouse of Equatorial Guinean ambassador in Belgium, the AEAAB will hand the funds raised from that party to Médecins sans frontières (Msf), one of the most active NGOs in countries affected by Ebola -- Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea.

"AEAAB aims to sensitize the international community on the health and social prevention measures that should be taken to avoid the spread of the Ebola virus," said the statement.

Brussels is the seat of strong international institutions such as the European Union (EU) which counts 28 member States, and NATO besides representations of several pressure groups.
