Belgium: European Development Commissioner leaves for Francophonie summit

Brussels, Belgium (PANA) – The European Development Commissioner, Neven Mimica, left Brussels for Dakar on Friday to take part in the 15th Francophonie summit this weekend.

A communiqué issued by the European Commission says that the senior EU official will hold bilateral talks with presidents from Africa, Caribbean and Pacific countries.

Mimica will also sign National Indicative Programmes (NIP) with Benin for 372 million euros for good governance, agriculture and energy development.

The European Commissioner will sign a 20 million-euro deal with Senegal to support efforts to improve the management of lands and fight the degradation of lands.
