Barrow attends AU Summit in Mauritania

Banjul, The Gambia (PANA) – Gambian President Adama Barrow left Banjul on Saturday for Nouakchott, Mauritania to attend the 31st Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State of the African Union (AU), holding 1-2 July 2018 under the theme 'Winning the fight against Corruption: A sustainable path to Africa’s Transformation'.

According to Amie Bojang-Sissoho, Director of Press and Public Relations in the President's Office, before departure President Barrow congratulated his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on his re-election as President of Turkey.

In a telephone conversation, President Barrow extended the message on behalf of the Gambian people, wishing President-elect Erdogan well in executing his new mandate and also prayed for his good health.

Meanwhile, the AU Committee of Ten on the United Nations Security Council Reforms and the High Level Committee on Libya will hold closed sessions on the eve of the AU Summit in Nouakchott.

Also, the AU ad hoc Committee for South Sudan and the Peace and Security Council (PSC) will meet at the level of Heads of State and Government.
