Khartoum, Sudan (PANA) - The Sudanese government on Thursday announced agreement to extend the current ceasefire for yet another three days, as brokered by the United States and Saudi Arabia.
The office of the army spokesman said, reference to the efforts deployed by the Saudi and American sides to contribute to calming down the situation and to extend the truce for creating suitable conditions for evacuation of different nationalities and to facilitate humanitarian aspects for Sudanese people, the command of the Sudanese Armed Forces has agreed to the extension of the truce for 72 hours, starting as of the expiry of the current truce.
The statement carried by the official Sudanese news agency, SUNA, stated that "the Sudanese Armed Forces hope the rebels will this time commit to observing the requirements of the true and refrain from violations as was the case in the previous truces, when they bombed the military institutions and positions of our troops and destroyed vital public establishments and put to danger the lives and properties of the citizens".
The Rapid Support Forces have yet to announce their position on the issue.
