2023 FIFA U-17 WC: Classy Germany triumph to seal top spot
Jakarta, Indonesia (PANA) - Germany convincingly beat Venezuela 3-0 in Jakarta to make it three wins from three and qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup knockout phase as group winners, FIFA.Com reported.
The European champions flew out of the blocks and were ahead before the clock struck the one-minute mark, Robert Ramsak tapping in from close range after a clever corner routine.
Venezuela regrouped and striker Junior Colina twice came close to a leveller, but saw shots drift just wide.
Germany looked a threat every time they attacked, however, and they made it 2-0 on 42 minutes. Ramsak turned provider on this occasion, slipping a pass into Eric Da Silva Moreira’s path, who slid home a low finish.
They extended their advantage shortly after the break, with Ramsak firing into an empty net after goalkeeper Jorge Sanchez failed to claim a corner delivery.
The Germans continued to control the game and saw out the win with little drama.
They will face the runners-up from Group E in Surabaya on Tuesday.
