2017 FIFA U-20 WC: Guinea disappoints in opening match

Jeonju, South Korea (PANA) - Guinea flagged off Africa's campaign for the 2017 FIFA Under-20 World Cup on a shaky note, losing 3-0 on Saturday to hosts South Korea at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium.

In their Group A match, South Korean goals came from Lee Seungwoo in the 36th minute, substitute Lim Minhyeok in the 76th minute and Paik Seunghoo in the 81st minute.

The Koreans finished fourth in the 1983 edition of the competition.

The other results of the day are England 3-0 Argentina in Group A, Mexico beat Vanuatu 3-2 in Group B and Venezuela 2-0 Germany, also in Group B.

On Sunday in Group C, African champions, Zambia, will take on two-time World champions, Portugal, at the Jeju World Cup Stadium with Iran meeting Costa Rica at the same venue.

The Portuguese won their titles in 1989 and 1991, finished second in 2011 and third in 1995.
