2017 FIFA Confed. Cup: Mexico hold Portugal to 2-2 draw in Group A

Kazan, Russia (PANA) - Mexico on Sunday held Portugal to a 2-2 draw at the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup taking place in Russia. In their Group A, Day 1 match at the Kazan Arena, in Kazan, Portugal twice came from behind to stalemate the match. The Portuguese scored first through Ricardo Quaresma in the 35th minute but Javier Hernandez made it 1-1 in the 42nd minute to leave the half time score at 1-1. Cedric Soares put Portugal back in front 4 minutes to the end of the match but again, the Mexicans, winners of the Confederations Cup on their maiden appearance in 1999, drew level in the 90th minute through Hector Moreno. In the opening Group A encounter on Saturday, hosts Russia defeated New Zealand 2-0 at St. Petersburg to top the group with 3 points. -0- PANA VAO 18June2017
