2015 CAF U-23 Championship qualifiers: Egypt, Zambia join Algeria, Senegal in final tournament

Cairo, Egypt (PANA) - Egypt and Zambia have qualified for the 2015 CAF Under-23 Championship which will be hosted by Senegal from 28 November to 12 December 2015.

In a third-round, second-leg match played Saturday, Egypt went to Uganda to beat the Cranes 2-1 and qualified on a 6-1 goals aggregate, having won the first leg 4-0.

In the other match, Zambia drew 0-0 with Cote d'Ivoire Saturday but qualified after winning 4-3 in a penalty shootout.

Zambia and Egypt therefore join hosts and automatic qualifiers Senegal and Algeria, which last weekend dismissed Sierra Leone from the race on a 2-0 goals aggregate. The Algerians won the third-round first leg 2-0.

Four more teams are expected to qualify to play in the final tournament in Senegal.

They will come from the following fixtures, with first-leg results in brackets:-

Congo vs (1-2) Nigeria
Zambia vs (0-0) Cote d'Ivoire.
Uganda vs (0-4) Egypt.
South Africa vs (1-1) Zimbabwe.

The three top teams in Senegal will represent Africa in the 2016 Summer Olympics men's football tournament.

The fourth-placed team will enter into a playoff with an Asian side.
