Mauritius: ASPL 2000 wins Republic Cup

Curepipe, Mauritius (PANA) - The Association of Port-Louis 2000 (ASPL) won the Republic Cup in Mauritius Sunday after beating Curepipe Starlight 1-0 at the George V stadium in Curepipe, in the south of the island.

PANA reports that the goal was scored in the 74th minute by Doddy Edouard.

Last year, Curepipe Starlight also lost by the same scoreline in the final match against Pamplemousses SC.

The Republic Cup is the second most prestigious competition in Mauritius after the First Division Championship.

It is played annually among the 12 teams of the First Division on a knock-out basis, starting in January and running just before the Independence Day celebrations on 12 March.
