Mauritian politicians pay tribute to Nelson Mandela

Port-Louis, Mauritius (PANA) - A number of Mauritian politicians Friday joined the band wagon in paying their tribute to the former South African president, Nelson Mandela, who died Thursday night in Johannesburg.

In his tribute, the Mauritian president, Rajkeswur Purryag, said: "the life of Nelson Mandela will remain a source of inspiration to the world and the future generation."

And the foreign affairs minister, Arvin Boolell, said ''a living legend has gone''.

Saluting the memory of the first black president of South Africa, former Prime Minister, Sir Anerood Jugnauth, said the death of Nelson Mandela was not only a loss for South Africa, but for the whole world.

Meanwhile, as a sign of mourning, Mauritian flags will fly at half-mast on the island until his funeral.
