Former Speaker of Mauritanian Parliament dies

Nouakchott, Mauritania (PANA) - A former Speaker of the Mauritanian Parliament, Mr. Abdel Aziz Sall, died Thursday after a long illness, sources from his family told PANA here.

Sall was Speaker of the Parliament until the 18 July 1978 coup against the regime of Moctar Ould Daddah.

He also served as a minister under the regime.

Originally from the region of Brakna, in the country's river valley, Sall was 87.
